I’m needing to replace the solenoid. Any tips and tricks? Seems it should be easy removing the bolts under the hood. What should I know to start this effort? Thanks gents!

For folks down the road, this is one of the easiest things you’ll do on your car. Unbolt the hood scoop and flip it over. Two screws with a U clamp to hold the selenoid in. The new solenoid didn’t come with a negative wire. Yes it needs a negative. Clip the negative off the old selenoid and clamp it under the U clamp around the selenoid. Screw that ground then somewhere in the hood underside.

The 39 year old selenoid was absolutely toast. The rod just fell out.

Now, I will tell you that I’ve owned this car for a couple years and the hood scoop not working was a bummer.....now I’m like a 17 years old again. When you put her down and the flap open. Oh man, it’s way fun.

    Best guys on this job!
