Here you go for your viewing pleasure is a nice looking Gray and Black 2 tone original looking Non AC with the the silver interior Camaro that I drove across the block at the 2023 Scottsdale Auction last night and hammered @ $98k ….. ?
You can pick it apart but IMHO it is telling that these cars with the right color are wanted and getting more expensive.

or some people had the same thing from that era and have a little extra cash to get rid of to take care of some mid life crisis?

It's an immaculate looking car but... Wow!

The paint looks like a base/clear repaint rather than a 40+ year old single stage.

Curious... Do all 81 models have that little bumper at the top of the doors?

People who spent that kind of coin have no clue what to buy. If you think a 77-81 Z28 is more desirable than a 69-70 then your off your rocker and need some help.
A 24,000 mile, unmolested 67-73 Z28/SS in similar shape would very probably be more.

But I think this car is over priced.

My guess is that's a T-top thing. It helps to brace the top of the door to the top of the jamb to prevent body flexing. Corvettes did a similar thing with convertibles. They had a pin-receiver system to lock the top of the door to the jamb.

Saw that last night and thought, but why?? It looked nice but what makes this one so special?? Even Mike Joy commented that it had to be a record for a stock 81Z.

I figured that's what it was for but I didn't notice this car had T-tops until I went back and looked at the pics.
