Interesting when people say the car sold for too much.

The production of those cars has stopped over 40 years ago, lots of now wealthy people grown up with pictures of those cars on their bedroom walls of school lockers.

Money , too much or too little of it is also a very relative idea. Most of us are spending/investing/wasting, depending on who you ask... A lot of time, money and even get complicated situations for the sake of living our passion for vintage iron.

100k for a very clean second gen I can totally understand it, not because its a great investment...Because some fairly sensible person analysed the time and money it would take to find, gather parts, rebuilt, restore, re-upholster, and repaint the dream car of his or her childhood ... 100K is not expensive.

Some people think the same for 1 million of an old mopar, a 20 million Alfa Romeo, or 50 million Ferrari...

Everything is relative...Some people have the time... other have the money

Peter.
And some people win lotteries.

Local place is selling a 3600 mile, 91 Silverado, Z-71, single cab, step side for $69K. Absolutely ridiculous. My 60K mile 94 must be worth 40…

There is some demand for the older trucks with lower mileage, no rust. Those things run forever and can be fixed reasonably when something quits. The new stuff has gotten completely out of hand in both cases.

Yeah, but nobody’s gonna drop 70k on a 91 truck then drive the wheels off of it…

Whats funny one aspect of my business is dealing with car manufacturers all the time and while the cars are considered "better" nowadays...I really cant see myself buying and driving anything new or recent... I mean car have gone so far from what gets me going when it comes to cages...I prefer motorcycles but I make a living because of car manufacturers.

So, I always pretend to be super excited about their new stuff but they've known me for long enough to know its all BS!

I can definitely understand why people , when money is no object (Im not in that club) , to go out on a whim and buy a mid 90s pick-up just because thats what they feel like driving, washing or just to look at it.

For every day driving, I much prefer my 21 truck over my 94. Better power, better brakes, better ergos, less NVH.
The only things the 21 can’t do is turn heads and take me back in time.
That said, my 23 will be here in a couple months, but I work for an OEM and get ridiculously cheap lease deals. I also get to work on many pre-production vehicles, but rarely get excited about any of them. I am excited about our latest one though and will be driving one in 25.
