Does anyone know what size reared comes in a mid 80's 2wd GMC S15 Jimmy?

I think it's a 10 bolt but I'm not sure if it's an 8.5". Im thinking it might be a 7.5". Also, if it is a 7.5" does anyone know how hard it would be to put an 8.5" in its place?

Take a look at it and see what is in there. I suspect that a little pickup like that will have the little 7.5, but you don't know until you look.

    Stock, it's a 7.5.

They didn't put in an 8.5" in S/T trucks until the new body style / into the 90s. Those rears may be wider, but can swap to the earlier models.

    2000 and up 2WD 4.3 with 5 speed got the 8.5 rear end. It's a bolt in.

I actually don't have the truck in front of me to look at.

There is an 85 s15 Jimmy for sale with a 350/th350 a couple towns over on Craigslist. My stroker motor would most likely annihilate a 7.5"
