Well done, some great shots there. Nice one with Tim Richmond.
Thanks for posting. Can't believe its been 20yrs. Nascar sure ain't the same without him
Well put together. Not a race fan since I was a kid but, this was a good read. Thanks
Thanks Camarolina for posting all those great pics of the Intimidator. He was my favorite Nascar driver and I never enjoyed the races as much after his passing. RIP Dale.
2001 was a bad year for me. Not only did the wife and I have 4 people in out families die in the first 4 months of the year. I can still remember her coming downstairs that night and saying Dale had died. Pulled out the old VCR and watched that race last weekend to never forget the legend lost on that day.
He's still the best in my book and always will be. R.I.P. Intimidator
Goddamit I feel old. I was 23 when this happened
I watched that race and it was pretty nasty .But it brought about needed changes in safety eqipment,
In 2001, I went to the Atlanta Cup race (3rd race after Earnhardt's death). They had tapped Kevin Harvick to fill in for Dale. Harvick (barely) won the Atlanta race using Earnhardt's team, equipment and race setup...just changed the car's paint scheme and number. There wasn't a dry eye in that place. I remember it like it was yesterday.
That finish gave me goosebumps so hard they hurt.
It was that same Atlanta race a year earlier Dale had beat Bobby Labonte to the line in the exact same way Harvick beat Gordon.
It was very cathartic.
