2005 Silverado will not talk to obd tool

    I have a check engine light on my 1500 and autozone and advance cannot connect to it. They say check all fuses. I saw the ecm fuse it wasn't blown any tips greatly appreciated. Thanks Kent

    How old is their scanner? I tried to read the codes in my wife's 2008 and my scanner would not link up. However, I borrowed a newer scanner from a buddy and it reads it just fine. My older scanner would read my 04' truck's computer without any problem, linked right up, but not the 08'.

    Did you check all fuses?? You mention the ECM but generally it's not the ECM fuse that causes communication issues.

    Code readers need updates to keep current.

    Also, the ECM fuse is for the computer, not the power supply for the obd port.
    Check the cig lighter fuse.

    Cig lighter fuse was blown. I'll Keep checking all others also. I'll try again. Thanks

    ALDL is powered by cig lighter fuse...

    yes silverados are very finicky

    Used your pcm is crap, that would cause it not to connect too.

    I would start off with a new oxygen sensor.:D
