I have a good lead on a 6.2 out of a 2018 Escalade with 18k miles. considering it for the 79 which had 454 and 4spd. What tranny is good behind this motor? Stay stick or convert to auto?

    Thanks for the input.

Stick!! That's a great motor. If you are going that far, find a T56 6 speed for it. If you can get the trans with the caddy motor, it might be tempting to use it, but a stick would be my preference. You can sell the giant automatic from the Escalade to help pay for the T56.

No tranny included. Just the motor.

Good strong motor. Cam kit and T56 is what my son put in his 3rd gen Camaro.
    Good luck.

    I forgot...it was probably a 4x4 trans anyways.

Put the 4 speed behind it....youll have a good chunk of change invested in the LS swap...save the transmission for another day.

Is that engine an LS or LT(L86 GenV). I know you were asking about the trans but thought I would check on the engine question as well.

    Ok gents.

If I go with the 6.2 L86 and stay with the factory 4spd for now. What all is needed for the swap?

    Of course motor mounts but

    Will the intake work (height)?
Will I need to swap out oil pan?
    Adapting tranny to motor?
