Same....I love racing, Nascar is now all about catering to something other than racing. I have moved on to other types of racing that still want to race.

Why? Were you one of the "fans" that liked watching wrecks?

I like seeing that Road America is on the schedule, but I would have much rather seen Mid Ohio than COTA. As someone who's also an IndyCar fan who dreads the COTA race every year due to the lack of quality in the racing there, I'm not a big fan of the idea of stock cars on it. If IndyCar can't make a road course put on an intriguing race, I don't think anyone can. I simply do not understand what the obsession with COTA is when Portland, Laguna Seca, and Mid Ohio put on much better shows.

As far as the dirt race, I'm not a fan of the idea. The truck race at Eldora was special. It was something the truck series had all to themselves, and it was the one time of the year where the spotlight was on them. Now, it's no longer special. They won't get the attention for it that they used to get, and I think that's a travesty. But if they're going to do it with the Cup, it should have been Martinsville or Richmond. Bristol is the best short track on the circuit, with extended side by side battles as drivers utilize different grooves. Martinsville and Richmond are the ones who can get really boring with the first 90% of the race being follow the leader.

Taking Chicagoland off schedule is too bad , the finish between
Kyle Busch and Kyle Larson last year was one of the best all year.
l like the idea of a dirt race but not at the expense of Bristol.

I find IndyCar racing extremely boring - either on an oval or a road course. I've never watched a race at COTA, so can't comment if it's a good track or not. But just because IndyCar's can't put on an "intriguing" show, doesn't mean that NASCAR can't.

I don't think that the Truck series needs dirt all to themselves. The only reason that currently the Truck series is the only one to run at Eldora is that there isn't enough seating handle the number of people that would want to go (only about 20,000).

I've been to Bristol, Martinsville and Richmond and all 3 put on great races. Bristol has the banking that makes a dirt track race more interesting.

Side by side at Richmond or Martinsville? Happens all the time. You can't get much tighter than this (spring 2009 at Martinville - my photos):

Even some of the best spin out...

And some more action from that same race...

I didn't get this on film in Richmond in 2008, but I was at that race...

All the short tracks provide great racing.

Wifey said to today she wants to go to Road America to watch next year, I told her "have fun and let me know how the racing goes". She did not like my response, lol.

We're seriously thinking of attending Road America as it's so close. We've been to Laguna Seca, the Nurburgring and Sonoma road courses, so why not?
