In the head, interesting idea? If it was off I'd probably have no issue doing that. In the car on the engine, I'm thinking thats a big no for me. Now what may be an alternative is to JBweld the intake hole an inch or so. Does that sound like a viable option?
I wouldn't use JB. How about machining down a chunk of aluminum rod to fit the hole. Measure the hole accurately and machine the rod .001 to .002 smaller and 1" long. Then drive it in until its flush.
WAG, pack the intake xover with the stainless scrubber pads from walmart; saw 'em in wm grocery today. i've always use a thin strip of SS over the holes (not a gasket w/ integral metal) ... but if that's not in your cards, maybe a scrubber is? btw, lotsa OE replacement gaskets in full sets had the block-off tabs but all I saw were thin stamped aluminum and those burn thru.
