It is all about how much money you have to what you can build

I have a dead reliable 420 hp 408 rght now (499 bored .040)using a stock rebuilt bottom end with hypertectic pistons(small dish).I have a set of old camel hump heads with 2.02/160 valves and abwl blend job,the cam is a very mild Crane Powermax 278 teamed with 1.6:1 rockers, 222 intake 234 exaust at .050,.500/.530 lift with the 1.6's. I ported an old Edelbrck Torker 2 intake to match the heads, added a 1" spacer650 double pmper, drop in performance HEI,cheapie 1 5/8" headers.
This thing idle like stock, makes peak power at under 5600rpm,and should run forever.Even as a 355 it woul have made close to 400hp,but the 400 just seems a little milder. I already have a race car,so I didnt want another car with hot rod headaches{rough idle, high maintenace ect) so I was very carefull when selecting parts for this buildup.
