We know it is a 68 block because the 3914678 casting was a one year block casting. Beyond that, you likely have some kind of mis-stamp. The upper case I was used instead of a 1, so already it is a mis-stamp.
Unless it was some kind of industrial application, consider it a mistake.

So there's no other way of figuring out where or what it's from?

I may have some insight on this... My Uncle use to buy engines from local dealers for use in his farm. They where used to power irrigation pumps. He has been gone for some time now. But the farm is still in my family. One of those engines is a 327 stamped with 5Q. I dont know the casting numbers, but ol Uncle Arvil swore by the chevy 327. The only reason I know about the 5Q is after Uncle Arvil passed, I was recruited to rebuild one of the engines as a cheap temp fix until the family can replace all 7 of the 327s with diesels. In the end, I get all 7 of those 327s. I know this didnt completely answer your question, but maybe help guide you on your path?

edit: I will check with my cousin and my aunt and find out if he ordered them thru the chevy dealer or the farm supply. Im thinking it was from farm supply, as my extended family also owns a farm equipment and feed store. I just remember riding into town with him to get parts. He would always talk to the guys behind the counter about the "hard working 327". Lol. Sorry, I really miss that man... lol

The "I" character was used in the 60's for the number one.

    3914678....302.....68....2.bolt main..Z-28 Camaro
    3914678....327.....68....2 bolt main
    3914678....350.....68....2 bolt main

    crank 3911001....307,327...cast....medium journal...3.25" stroke

Don't know what 5Q is. Could be a re-stamp, that's why there's no info on it anywhere, not even Mortec. Someone goofed the stamp?
