I decided yesterday that I was going to take a nice little road cruise to a not-so-local state park. So I got directions for Blue Mounds State Park in the southwestern corner of MN. After checking the oil and filling the tank on my '83 Buick LeSabre, I headed out. Took me a little over 2 hours to get to the park (approx. 140 miles) and what a smooth cruise it was. I thoroughly enjoy just getting out on the road and cruising through little towns on the way to a "greater destination"!
Here are a few pics from the park:

Can you make out the glacial striations in this rock?

Apparently barbed wire is supposed to be enough to hold back these guys...

There's about 100 buffalufalo that graze the park.

Few more pics yet.....

BUFFALUFALOison!!!

While I wanted to take one of the other trails to see the cliffs where the Indians supposedly ran the bison off of "back in the day", my legs were quite tired as it's been quite a while since I've done any hiking like that.

Not a bad Sunday afternoon

Nice pics! Looked like some quality "get away from it all" time.

BTW: I've met some buffalumps before, in Wyoming. They'll eat right out of your hand. You have to have a hunk of pork roast to feed them, but they get all sedated and friendly enough after chowing that down that you can ride them around!
For real it's a trip! You should try it next time.
I want to see some close ups so have your camera ready, but turn the flash off because that kind of ticks them off a bit.
