Can a 2 or 2 1/2 inch cowl be used with either of these intakes? I dont need a 4 inch cowl hood. Trying to keep the clean looks with a NOT SO TALL hood.
What ya got and what hood do you use with a big block?? Trying not
to go LS swap, but will if I cant find a solution. Thanks

I ran that same combo, but with a small block. I don't think you can stuff a bbc with an air-gap under a stock hood.

Try a 2' cowl hood or a drop based air cleaner from 1970 1/2-3 Camaro.

The 2nd gen SS BBC Camaros used a flat hood.

The Weiand Stealth is just a little bit taller in front than the RPM Air Gap but shorter in the rear.
The Weiand Action Plus is shortest in front and splits the difference in the rear.

    Stealth...………. Front 4.75" - Rear 5.75"
    Action Plus..... Front 4.25" - Rear 5.87
    Air Gap...…….. Front 4.45" - Rear 6.0"

It seems to be the front of the air cleaner where there is the least amount of clearance on our cars so a Weiand Action Plus would probably fit with less fitment problems.

If you really want a cowl hood... you won't need much height on the cowl with any of them unless you plan on using a big carb spacer.

Good question on the clamshell mounts. I could only fit the gm factory rectangular low rise aluminum intake off the ls6 chevelles and an edge rock torker 2 on my 73. Neither are great intakes so I went to a steel 2” good mark cowl hood.

    thanks everyone.

Ok, Let me try this differently. I only want to use one of those 2 intakes. will it work with a 2 or 2 1/2 inch cowl hood? I do not want to
use the stock hood. I do not want to use a race car hood either lol. I know I need a drop base air cleaner. Lots of big block cars on this forum, someone has to have this setup.. I would think it would be so common on F-BODIES. As far a motor mounts, clamshell or stands to drop engine lower?
