running truck 454s around here...guys always ask $1000 but will take half that

all the motorhome TH400s I've seen have been long shaft so that's unfortunate

Oh I know that just as well as the next guy. Here’s my bitty 346LS vs a GT500

but I also know that doesn’t make my engine better. I think what was trying to be said is even though a PP 454 can be hopped up, It’s not the best combination for a BBC. Even though I would run a 454 and have, my LS427 is hard to beat. 0ECD4229-3CBF-4B38-A0AD-A9F764BD3C16.jpeg

Ya, I won't lie an LS 427 is a tough combo. Here is a 467 peanut port combo that go me started, Mark does have a leg up on me though as he is a machinist with lot of nice stuff.

I had a peanut head 454 in my car before I went to the ZZ454 It was absolutely a great street engine and for ripping around it was just as satisfying as the ZZ454. Lots of talk about how they are weak engines and maybe that's true in some regards but it was a blast to drive with so much torque down low.

The only thing I disliked about the BBC was I couldn’t run a flat hood

For sure I went through a fair effort to get the 80 cowl hood to have enough room under it.

To run a flat hood on a Camaro you have to use the crappy Torker 2.0 or the factory flat intake, both are performance killers.

Brodix has come out with a new intake manifold for the big block Chevy’s. It’s very low like the original unit but apparently doesn’t kill horsepower.

There is nothing you can do to a 454 to tame it down enough so it won't smoke the tires with ease. The later smogger 454s had low HP, but you can't hurt their brute torque no matter how much you try. They are fun, fun, and more fun.
