Will a 454 bbc work with a th350 and will it fit in under stock hood????
A low deck 454 with a stock intake will clear. If you run a higher intake with a drop base it will be close. You should cosider a cowl hood then you can run a good intake and cleaner with no problems.
There are a zillion 350's behind BBC's.
Yes Th350 Are Great Trannys It Will Be Fine, Just Put A Dual Plane Intake Like A Performer And Should Fit, High Rise Intake Then Might Be Clearance Problems.
agree with the above it should fit depending on intake, air cleaner
Just put a bb in my 81z with a performer rpm intake and a holley 750 carb and it will NOT clear.....on my car. I am using an Edelbrock 14" drop base air cleaner. I cut out the opening in the hood but had to remove 2 of the mounting tabs for the stock air induction scoop. Still having some contact issues, the front of the air cleaner is now hitting a cross reinforcement brace on the underside of the scoop. May just get a smaller air cleaner and solve the problem.
And I am using my TH350 behind the BB.
There are hundreds of threads on this setup and swap! Im running a th350 behind my 496 in a 79z.
No sorry won't fit under a stock hood sorry! I'm close with a drop aiir cleaner and a 2 inch element with a 3 inch cowl! And yes my motor mounts are right!
It Will Fit But You Need To Use A Low Intake, Like A corvette Style alum Intake, The 80 And 81 Are The Worste Ones Cause Of The Way The Air Induction Is Set Up And The Hood Reinforcement Is Designed.
An Edelbrock Torker 2-2,0 will clear the stock hood but will be down on power compared to a big dual plane but that really doesn't matter if you can't cruise.
