thank you guys I appreciate you concern and your tips. I will not pursue this in court because I live in Canada lol. we don't sue here lol

i will give him a chance to make right and when he doesn't I will expose his baloney across town.

mind you I should of trusted my gut going to a muffler shop recommended from Performance Improvements lol (a parts shop in Canada) next time I have money to spend on one of my expensive hobbies I will do more research. I just really thought I could trust a auto mechanic hahahahahahaha BURN.

Plenty of expertise here, maybe build the next one yourself and KNOW what's inside. I'm a mechanic by trade and I'm paranoid to out source anything anymore.

Yes, small claims is what I was talking about. I don't know how it works in the States, but once you get a judgement in your favour, there are options to collect. Maybe not all at once, but you will eventually get paid.

And really, the exercise here is to do everything you can to stick up for yourself and get the guy to do the right thing. Whether you decide to go the small claims route or not, at least you will know you covered the bases.

That guy has shown zero moral issues in ripping you off. You should show the same when taking him to court. After his blatant disregard, I question that I would even offer him a chance to make it right.

Sue him in small claims. It's easy as pie, and if you show prepared you'll do well. I guarantee he'll show up with nothing but his dick in his hands. Anything else is as useful as a yelp review.

When you go to court, keep it simple. Don't use jargon or technical terms. Speak as if the jp is a moron (he will be). Bring a red seal mechanic with you as expert. It'll be well-worth the cost of bringing him.

GM has lots of crate engines for that money with a warranty. Good luck.

Don't beat yourself up. We have all made expensive mistakes. Learn and move on to small claims court.
He hosed you, hose him harder.
