I have been looking for a 200r4 for quite a while and have had no luck. I have an opportunity to barter a power glide trans I have with 56000 miles on it for one of two 700r4 trannys.
One is out of a 89 Z28 the other out of a 87 Corvette. Both have 40xxxx miles. I know the Corvette 700 has heavier duty internals and different tail housing and if I want the vette trans I can swap the tail housings. Also look for the V on the housing of the Corvette trans. From my research 87 and later are the years that are best. Question is will the 700 hold up as well as a 200r4? I am running a 355 rearend gear and 350 turbo now and at 65 mph I am turning 3200 rpm and would like to get that rpm down. I know about shortening the drive shaft,tv cable and probably need Lokar products for this.
Sorry for rambling. Any help would be appreciated

If the tail housing length is different, you will need to replace or modify the output shaft to match.

I find that the Vette tail shaft is 5\8 shorter so maybe I can't swap tail housings.

annoying posting from phone, sorry for extra posts. I believe it's mainly the servos that are improved in the vette versions.

40000, my bad. Yes servos are improved in the Vette transmission. The tail shaft is also 5/8 shorter in the Vette transmission so not sure if the Camaro tail housing will work. I haven’t look at them yet to see how much is sticking out of each tail housing. I was hoping someone had been through this before. Still looking for a 200-4R since I like the gearing better in them.

Can't you just swap the vette servo into the Camaro transmission?

I’m sure that is possible if the guy doesn’t mind.
