This is a GREAT CAR if someone wants an Automatic solid lifter 2nd gen Z28. - the fact that the car is so complete is a huge bonus to anyone restoring it.

Thanks secondgenaddict..IT is a great car. I do understand the C3 Corvette attraction, I have a 71 convertible air car.
If I didnt have that I would keep this one, but only room for one..

I have been looking at 72 LT1 Air cars... found one with original paint and transitorized ignition...
I had a daytona yellow 69 L46 when I was 18 & I wish I still had it. Found a survivor Daytona Yellow 1 owner Lt1 coupe original paint interior smog etc.

My concern from what I can see in the engine compartment, alternator pulley does not look correct, exhaust manifolds do not look correct for a Z28, the markings on the head don't match what is usually on a Z28.

What exactly doesn't look correct? Very vague comment.. I'll put pictures up, what am I looking for? What markings on the head?

Pulley should be a billet machined deep groove. not a stamped steel.

Rest of it looks OK to me.

Stripes are not correct, but you probably know that. Decent car really.

Not 100% sure about 72's but were they not supposed to have the rear bumper extensions? Not even any evidence of the holes in the valence panel.

EDIT: looking closer it does look like the pass side exhaust manifold is missing the AIR ports.

Yes interesting, I never noticed the passenger air ports..thats probably why the riser is wrong too..
Yes stripes are vinyl, badge on the spoiler instead of foil..bumperettes missing on rear..
It had been repainted in the 90s , it is not a survivor.
It is a good candidate for restoration I think,,so much of it IS there..

That makes sense now. Heads usually have a what they call double humps on the end. There should not be a heat riser on the exhaust manifold. Not sure if there was A.I.R. with automatic. Should be be a turbo 400 and still have solid lifters in 1972

So yes that passenger manifold is not original. My understanding is the original 330 RH manifolds were prone to cracking. Small fortune for a replacement if you can find one. Other numbers used as replacements.
Yes it has a Turbo 400 with CW and partial vin on the tag.
Yes it has solid lifters that need adjusting from time to time.
Ill check the head casting numbers when i have the covers off next time.
Smog pump and A.I.R. pipes removed and holes plugged.
    Thanks for the help.

No worries, I have had several Z28's over the years and recall the problem in getting replacement parts, My 73 Z28 had those manifolds and they both cracked about the same time. So I put headers on it instead. Wish I could reasonably afford this car as it looks nice.
