Just picked up a set of Apr '72 rims, paint looks and feels original but I find it almost impossible to be true after 50 years. Three blue tab trim rims along four original center caps came with rims.
Does this shade of gray look original?

Beyond soap and an abrasive sponge how can I clean the paint. Will a traditional paint polish work or will that stain the paint? Thanks

Looks too smooth to me. The paint should be less rough than a street curb.
This is an original paint Z28 I inquired about in the late 70’s from California.
