Maybe because the passenger side fender is a repop, thus the spot to put the rivnut wasnt pre-done, so they used the pre-placed nut thus the short bar was used.

Also, wouldn't the rear taillights gets the chrome ring?

Z21 was not incl. w/ RS in 72 and 73, so the answer is no.

i tried to get a good pic of the cowl tag but it had a lot of black paint on it. i told the sales guy that i was questioning the round rivets holding it on (73 should be screws?). could not get good read on it, he had it under neath another car on lift so could not open hood all the way. it did have N on it so Norwood build (if it is correct tag) car has been resprayed could not verify much due to where car was parked.i told him i was questioning some of the other things (same as post on here) i did not ask if he was selling on consignment. not sure who had done the work on it.

I thought that the switch over for rivets to screws in 73 was around April?

FWIW for history, my 1973 RS is an early build (11C), 3rd week of Nov, 1972. Norwood built, has rivets, without Z21option. No putty in the rivet holes.
