Just finishing the resto on our 77 LT. I had the bumpers stripped then chromed. They look marvelous, but the job cost $1500. There is an outfit in California who will strip and re-anodize them for $800 per bumper, plus shipping both ways.
If I had met him sooner, I would have Eric Hayes here in the Tacoma area, strip and repolish the bumpers. I can get his phone # to you, pm me.
I didn't powder coat for the reasons already expressed here: yellowing over time, not looking right, and ours were pretty pitted on the undersides. Overall, we're very pleased with the look- maybe a little brighter than the original, but good looking, none the less.
