i recently purchased a 77 camaro which has dealer installed hurst t tops. there is a installation sticker from hurst in the door jamb from 2/77. Has anyone else every seen or heard of a 77 or older camaro with dealer installed t tops. the tops is one of the main reasons i bought the car, well plus the 350/4 speed combo. and buckskin metallic paint. i would assume this is a one of one car or at least close to it.
I had a 77 Hurst T-Top camaro. Was a rust bucket though. The hurst tops were smaller and eazier to store in back seat . Don't have the car anymore but i still have the tops.
Some dealers would install either the Hurst or the Cars and Concepts T tops for customers who wanted them before Chevy offered them from the factory. Pontiac was offering them earlier, so some Camaro owners wanted them too.
Camaros with the t-tops in '77 were really rare. I was mad when I saw one after I got my '77. Never knew there were conversions.
did the dealers install them or were the cars sent directly to the hurst facility or the cars and concepts facility from the factory ?
i believe they were sent to the conversion mfg. facility. the sticker on my car is from hurst. i will try to get a pic of it and put it up here.
Sweet looking ride!! I love that color and the wheels you have on it! I thought it was 78 that the factory started putting Fisher tops on them.
RPO CC1 T tops shows up on the 1978 option list so it was available from the factory. http://www.nastyz28.com/camaro/camaro78.html#rpo However, some of the 78 model Camaros I've seen have the Hurst top. Maybe someone has the true information. Did GM install both Hurst and Fisher tops in 78? Were the 78 Fisher top cars factory installed and the 78 Hurst top cars aftermarket?
