I put these in the BS section a few days ago, but since it is body related I thought I'd post them in here too:

I had been wanting a rottisserie for a while, so me and my dear old Dad decided to make one. Actually Dad did all of the work, I helped with the design and bought the materials. Here are a few pics of what it looks like. Lot's of work to do as you can see. You will notice in one of the pics a Chevy 350 flywheel. We decided that the tooth combination of the starter and flywheel were perfect for turning the car. Worked out great - we took an old starter apart and welded the starter gear to a crank to turn the flywheel. Not bad for a homemade setup.

And the next questions:
$$$?
Hours to make?
Junk yard material or new?

I'm hoping one is somewhere in my future plans, but we'll see.

I had to buy most of the steel new - $175 (but that is wholesale). Already had the casters, but those are about $25 a piece.

About 40 hours to make.

That is extra cool, I'd love to find one of those under the tree this season! Like the flywheel set up and everything, now I'm not experienced with welding but I was curious does anyone know how much a brand new rottisserie costs? just a ballpark estimate?

FYI this has been covered many times and there is a lot of info if you use the search function. Here is a partial post I wrote from another thread.

If you want to just buy one this place sells what looks to be a very nice one starting at $549 out of Tn.
