DRF 79 Camaro 170hp block
DRF is okay for 79 350 with manual trans according to this site. There should be a partial vin stamped in the same place that will tell you if it is original to the car.
Thanks for all the info guys I really appreciate the help!
So with that it looks like you may have the block that came in the car from the factory (need to find the VIN stamp on the block to confirm that) that has had better heads installed at some point.
This info came right from the NastyZ28 engine code info. Flint, MI built engine on October 25th.
- DRF = 1979 350 auto trans. L LM1 170 4 Camaro
DRF was also used behind ST-10 manual trans '79 Z28's and perhaps others.
I just ripped the Borg-Warner super t 10 (with the three cross hatch lines on the input shaft) out of mine the brass bushing was installed incorrectly and was making some horrendous noise.
When you’re referring to the “L LM1” what does that refer to?
L LM1 are showing in the "Engine VIN" column from the info I pulled. I'd suggest following the link to the site to reference it in person.
LM1 was the designation for the 350.
