The door pulls on my 80 suck. I think they are reproductions, because I did a search and they dont look like the OEM ones. They look like a molded rubber material and the screw heads pull through them. I even tried putting a washer on the screw before installing and any washer that is small enough to fit through the mounting "tunnel" pulls right through the back side. I've seen people finding ways to fix a stripped screw hole, but mine are fine. The screws stay in the door and pull right through the arm rest. Anyone else have this problem and figure a way to fix it?
if there oer there total garbage i installed mine then promptly threw them out, first time i shut the door the handle broke, the nos ones are nice or just get some nice used ones, if the wrong color dye them. i thought the ones i dyed the color would come off from wear and tear but they have been fine for years, good scrubbing then sem paint and done and done.
I'll see if I can find some originals at Carlisle. Might even make my own when I do some custom door panels.
just installed mine last week and the drivers side is broken already!. getting new door panels made and am thinking of built in door pulls.
3Slow5 Not all OER products are bad, most are real nice, BUT man ohhh man the repop door pulls are lame ducks for sure.
they probably do not put in the plastc inserts befroe the molding process...thus the bolt heads pull through the soft rubber/plastic
Hey Woody... there is a repair kit for the same vintage Vette that should help... cheap too. check these out and see if you think they will work for ya
