The early tachs (70-77) use a D'Arsonval meter and a small tach circuit. These meters are slower and less responsive than the bi-coil meters used in 78-81 Camaro. Even though the early tachs are slower, there isn't an extreme amount of response time as you described. The problem with your tach could be in the meter itself, or a combination of the meter and tach circuit. There is no way to know for sure what the problem is without testing the tach myself. If you would like to send it in for testing I can give you an accurate quote for repair. Just let me know how you would like to proceed and I will be more than happy to send you the shipping address.
Thanks!
Daniel

Daniel,

If I send my guages could you redo them in reverse? White face and black numbers and add the oil pressure guage? PM me on the cost if this is an option.

Thanks

Hello,
could you please tell me how much the oil gauge is ?
I want to install it in place of my clock.
thanx.

The oil pressure gauge for 2nd gen Camaro is an electric gauge that accurately registers 0-80 PSI when used with the correct sending unit. The sending unit can be purchased at the major auto supply stores (Advance, Auto Zone, NAPA, etc...) for about $20. The oil gauge will install directly into the clock mount location with no alteration. Instructions for wiring and sending unit information are included.
The oil pressure gauge sells for $119.99 for 70-78 models; $129.99 for 79-81 models (A NOS plastic needle will be installed on the gauge for 79-81) If you provide a complete clock housing from any 70-81 Camaro as a core, the price will be reduced by $12. If your shipping address is anywhere in the USA, S&H is included. Paypal or USPS money order are the accepted form of payment.
Thank you!

Yes! The gauges can be painted white and have black markings at no additional charge. Pricing will vary depending on the work needed to be done. For example, if all of the gauges are working and are calibrated correctly, the cost will be less than if the gauges need repair and calibration. You can send in your gauges for testing and inspection so that I can give an accurate quote.
Thanks!

Click on this link to see gauges in white face. There are a couple of customers that have used the DIY packages to restore their own gauges with white face. Great work Chris and Laine!

Look up at post #20 for Laine's white face conversion.

Here is my conversion with an oil psi gauge. The oil psi gauge was a black one that was in my old cluster. I just painted a new face (I used another complete cluster for the faces so I could still drive my car) and Daniel provided me with the black letters.
