i had the same questions for CAA when I put on the 7 piston compressor (converting from my old R4) vs the 5 piston the kit comes with typically.

they said it doesnt mae enough of a difference to alter the amount of refrigerant to add.

Seems to me the most capacity would come from the compressor. The rest of the system is lines going through small fins on the evaporator and the condenser.

The compressor holds the oil .

2 big pistons , 5 medium sized or 7 small , all the same . Just how much hp to turn it . Freon has different properties at different temperatures and pressures. A little late to be explaining the properties of air conditioning.dont bother trying to charge a system at less than 70* ambient temp as the pressure will be almost nothing the lower you go . Your supposed to use a super heat reading to set the charge and you need a warm ambient temperature

I understood the oil chamber is segregated from the AC system. It’s for the compressor not the system?

the only thing with moving parts is the compressor on a fixed orifice . On other types ( older style with POA and THX valve ) it gets its oil by the oil infusing itself with the Freon

Here’s a book to read ( unfortunately it’s over 1100 pages ) . Then you can take a proctored test and pass universal . I’ve been doing this for a long time with a 5 year apprenticeship. 1876E3D6-7083-4E7D-A9F7-1901A6939D6D.jpeg 80A54169-DDE1-4A5E-B7F9-CB48DC205DDB.jpeg

My VA system had a sight glass in the liquid line I just put enough R134 in my system until the bubbles cleared up and it cools good
