DASH INLAY?: So I ordered the three piece aluminum bezel inlay from Burton Antiques. It came with a few strips of very thin, fine double sided tape. Has anyone here installed a new inlay and used a different method other than double sided tape? seems after a while, either the heat will delaminate of vibration would shake it loose. The last thing im gonna want to see is the corners of it peeling up in the future. I was thinking of using a thin strip of silicone around the perimeter and in the field......Personally, I dont see the product being worth 400 dollars, but I had no choice. That being said at least it is of excellent quality. I was grateful they included a silver trim paint pen.

I put a cherry veneer inlay on mine.

That was over a decade ago and 3M doubled-sided tape has held it in place very well.
I covered the entire back side of the inlay with the tape rather than just a few strips.

With the carmine interior... I think it turned out well.

A lot of trim on cars is held on with a double sided sticky tape, maybe a body shop? That stuff is exposed to elements so it hads to be good. But I think Twisted's idea for the 3M stuff should suffice, should be perfect for that thin interior piece

i use the 3M vhb tape quite a bit, but for some reason, when I peeled off the oem inlay I noticed the plastic bezel had a "textured surface. Not sure if this was intentional from GM, or it was a replacement bezel that the previous owner glued down the aluminum inlay. I am certain any tape worth using would be too thick and didnt want the aluminum to sith proud of the plastic chrome painted lip. Either way, the textured surface will not allow the tape to bond 100%. I have 3M weatherstrip adhesive, in a thin paste form I may use. this is what I call "analysis paralysis"......overthinking the simplest project. 35 years ago, i would have used window and door caulking. I say that but I was just as bad then as I am now;)
