I recently tried to install an AMD fender on the driver’s side of my 75. The profile of the fender was way off. The peak body line of the fender stuck out about 1/2” from the door. The door is original GM. No matter how hard I tried I couldn’t get it to fit. I’ve heard of people cutting the back structure to allow the fender to lay down. The photo shows the profile difference between another old aftermarket fender and the AMD.

Has anybody experienced the same thing?

I can’t tell what I’m looking at. Do you have pics of it on the car?

Been there, done that. On my 81. Tried several brands of repop fenders. None worked worth a tot. I finally gave up and bought used OE fenders. Which worked perfect.

The fender is laying flat on a stand. The cardboard template is from the other fender that fits good. Notice the gap between the cardboard template and the fender, approximately 1/2”. Unfortunately I don’t have a photo of it on the car, I got frustrated and took it off and put the old one back on. The fender was sticking out past the door by a 1/2”. I couldn’t pull it in enough, not even close. Now I’m thinking of cutting the back structure to see if it will push in.
