    Hey - I was born in Syracuse, then moved to Whitesboro (Utica) then Albany, off to Florida and now back in Gansevoort (Saratoga). What's wrong with a little snow?

    Yea, but 12K a year in property tax more than makes up for it!

    Almost a 75% saving in property tax together with a 50% saving on car insurance add up to quite a large chunk of money.
    I will offer the 4 post lift as a option to buy with our current home, if not I will sell it and buy another one in NC.

    I looked at a few homes in the Murphy area. Log cabins with wonderful views. One home was $275K and the taxes were $1100. I was surprised. My car insurance here in NY wasn't too bad. When I was in Florida, the insurance went up 40%. Moved back here, went down the 40%.

    I didn't read every post, but I assume this is a retirement move? Can't wait to see the progress and I wish the very best of luck. I am just a few years from retirement myself and NC is very high on my list of places to go. Be great to get your experiences.
