Glad to hear you say that. I appreciate the honesty in a salesman. I am that way as well, sometimes to a fault..

Probably chock full of lint. I rented a house in Florida once for disney, and me and my brother tore into the dryer that was doing that and filled a Walmart bag with lint.

I'd bet you're probably right. Unfortunately since it's not mine I can't start taking it apart and putting it back together.

I have this thing called a clothes rack, coupled with a little bit of foresight I get my clothes dried over night for free. G/F can't figure it out to save her life, and promptly doubled my power bill.

But ya to the o/p, I have no doubt you hear that all day long.

If I wasn't in an apartment that wouldn't be a bad idea during the summer.

Having to run 3 cycles is really racking up on your electric bill. I guarantee you I'd be all up in that thing making it work right. The landlord/property manager or whatever wouldn't have to know anything.

We have a Maytag microwave we bought to warm my daughter's bottles when she was a baby, very simple, 2 dials, 1 for heat the other for time. Still works great, never a problem. She'll be 29 in a couple months. Is there still a "lonliest guy in town"?

Nope. maytag made some serious errors business wise and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of whirlpool.

If the dryer is not full of lint, try and see where the dryer duct goes out..see if it is full of lint, especially if it's the kind that exits through the roof(bad exhaust design imo)or high up on the wall.Lint has no where to go with those 2 ways.
