We still use the Maytag washer and dryer that belonged to my parents. They are 30+ years old, and works perfectly.
The Maytag set they had before that (Lord only knows how old they are) are in the basement, and are dedicated to garage rag duty. They still work, too.

By contrast, Desire' and I have bought and discarded 2 brand new Whirlpool washers and one dryer in the last 4 years before we moved.

GE is suing lg and samsung for illegal dumping of appliances. Turns out its cheaper to buy a korean appliance in the US vs buying them in korea because of protectionism. jim

People want all the money for what they are selling and pay nothing for what they are buying.

People are stupid. That about sums it up. At least in the old days, you could go upside their head when they acted the fool.

Whirlpool and GE are both suing mg and samsung for patent infringment. I was not aware of the "dumping" lawsuit but I was fairly sure they are selling at a loss to "corner the market".

I have to give a nod to my Roper washer and dryer. Walked into BestBuy in 2002 and bought the cheapest ones I could find. Knock on wood, they are going strong without a single issue.

We bought new Kenmore 80 series washer and 70 series dryer new in 98, 2 PCS moves and doing laundry for a family of 5, to include my greasy car working clothes, they work fine, we did have to replace the timer on the dryer, still would dry but just wouldnt shut off unless you did it manually, fixed cheap and they are working fine.

Hopefully the next set we have to buy will be as good.
