does anyone have any advice on how to package and ship the inner fenders? Box them” wrap in bubble and send unboxed? Etc. Also any suggestions on the cheapest carrier to Use? Thanks!

weight and dimension is what most quote. I would box with Masonite on the face sides inside the cardboard box. if sending both sides nest with bubble wrap between them. You should be able to get quotes when you have the weight and box dimensions. Will need zip code to where they are going.

GM shipped them to dealers un-boxed, as in "bare", via the normal freight lines before we got the dedicated-carrier situation. Just attached the shipping labels and they were gone. Due to their size, a normal LTL freight line might be best. Check to see which ones ship to the destination zip code. UPS and FedEX have "freight" divisions now, which might also be an alternative. Might need to investigate "unattended delivery" options, too?

In another forum, it was mentioned that Fastenal will ship for low costs, via their in-house freight line. In the case of the fender skirts, securing them to a pallet might be necessary rather than boxing. Their freight line goes just between their stores, so you might need to drive a bit to find one of their stores near you and the shipping/destination zip code. Not sure of any possibility of tracking such a shipment for possible delivery time, so inquire about that, too.

Please let us know what you determine, as to the shipper.

Yup, Greyhound is a very viable option. I had a set of fenders for a 48 Chevy pickup (fronts, very large and odd shaped) sent that way, perfect experience.

Retired GM Parts Manager here. FS87 is correct. GM would put a tag or sticker on them and out the door they went. Sometimes they came in bent on the edges. If you box them they are large but not heavy. UPS will probably label them as oversize. Tough call there.

I also vote for Greyhound or R&L. I received two fenders via Greyhound and a quarter panel from R&L. Both turned out great results. My only complaint with Greyhound would be that they’re tracking system is terrible. It just shows the parcel leaving a location, and subsequently arriving at the bust depot. There’s no in between updates.

Good to hear props for R&L. You guys will keep me working, lol. Been a city driver for them for 2yrs now. Trailer door says
"Anything, Anywhere, Anytime" That seems to ring true. My back & pallet jack be damned. I've delivered all kinds of car stuff from Rock Auto, Junkyards, Summit(we pick up from the Akron Oh location daily) Crate engines, transmissions, tires, you name it

It would be interesting to see what it costs to ship something like that too. I sold a receiver last year, 40lbs, cost right at $100 shipping from So. Ohio to San Fran in Calif. Amazed me that someone would pay that actually.
