Both of mine are working great so far. Wish I had left the Mastercool evaps on (side by side with the AC) as they would kickass right now. But, I got tired of maintaining them. When the new roof went on, new AC went on with it, the evaps came off.

I had a brand new Mastercool on my last house. I gave it to the roofers for free and drywalled over all of the upducts. I cannot stand humidity.

I should have kept my freaking hole shut. 5:22 and my system won't cool now. Couldn't do it during the day when I could reach my guy. MF

Well that was definitely interesting. The service guy flakes on me and is two hours late, quotes me $450 for a run cap for the condenser fan and tells me maybe it will work, and maybe it will be another $1,200 for the fan motor. I'm a little pissy and kind of short and decline the repairs. He's gets all crack addict type twitchy and throws a service charge he never mentioned at me and next thing you know we're about to throw blows in my side yard. What a piece of crap. I went in to get the money for the service fee and felt uncomfortable enough I had to grab the Taurus.

The cap he was trying to sell me I can get on Amazon for $18.40, and a new motor is $177, that's a lot of labor. I have my regular guy coming out tomorrow. I don't even know if this dingleberry put it back together right.

I'm sitting here stunned at how fast this almost went sideways.

With the price of R22 just prey it doesn’t leak. Some parts of the country is more pricey than R12.
410 units are great very few problems, I see more evaporator coils leaking from the high pressure that 410 puts out.

So... What was wrong with it, Dave?

I had to have a capacitor replaced on mine a year or two ago and I think the total bill was around $200.
If I had known the problem, I could have fixed it for around $30 myself.

Yeah, the dual capacitor. The company that came out is the same outfit that saved me on the plumbing punch list when I sold my house a few years back. Next time I'll be patient and just wait for the after hours call back. None of the techs are on commission, super friendly and always super competent and professional.
