I was looking at gunbot and gunbroker. I was wondering if anyone has ever done this before. Not sure if there is anything I should be concerned about.

    Thanks,
    Rick

Find your nearest FFL holder 1st. You'll need their license info and address to provide the seller....and of course the green light that he's OK with the transaction. Once you have all that squared away, you're ready to send payment to the seller. The seller then will ship the gun to your local FFL holder. It's then up to the FFL holder to run your background, etc. before the gun is released to you.

There will be transfer fees that you'll have to pay in addition to whatever your purchase price of the firearm.

Bought 5 thru GunBroker, no problems. Like Ebay do you your research, check feedback, etc. Remember shipping and inbound FFL fees add up, sometimes local gunshops can get close, or do better, unless its something unique or currently scarce.
Got 3 just before Newtown, prices sure have crept up.
Not being able to hold it, inspect it is my biggest concern, but so far no issues.

Yes. Non FFL (seller) shipped to my FFL...no problem whatsoever.

Make sure your FFL will accept from a private seller if that is the case.

    Edit: stupid auto correct

I have using Davidson's. Worked out fine.
I'd give a local shop a shot at the sale 1st

If it's from a private seller that doesn't hold a FFL, you'll want to get a copy of their drivers license. If your FFL transfer agent will accept from a private seller, they'll need that info. Gunbroker and Auction Arms have worked fine. I haven't warmed up to Armslist yet, but I'd think of them like Craigslist; only buy if you can work it FTF.

You can order from most gun shops and get a decent price. Especially if it's pre-paid or 50% down e6tc deal. Making 10% for making an 800# phone call is good money.

I have bought several off of gunbroker and several from www.budsgunshop.com as well. Again getting your ffl all lined up is the first priority, I am fortunate to have 2 in my area that will transfer for $10 and are good to deal with. Second is exactly like ebay do your homework and make sure the seller doesnt seem to be trying to hide something from you with pictures.

This is how I have done it and it works flawlessly. I believe I have made more than 9 purchases on gunbroker.com and never had an issue.
