Atoto 10.1" Screen and Back-up Camera Install

I've been wanting to install a larger screen head unit and back-up camera so I decided to give the Atoto F7 XE a try. I'd have preferred an Alpine or Pioneer, but the Atoto was less than $300.

Overall, it works very nicely. Wireless Carplay starts quickly, and the back-up camera does as well. The only fault I've noticed so far is that the unit hums slightly. Nothing you can hear with the car running, but it is noticeable with the just key on. I may also add a trim ring around the base, as the mounting sleave is gray, which can be seen from the side. I have a Quicksilver shifter, which comes close to hitting the screen, but stops short.

The camera is just a cheapy off Ebay, for about $14. Picture isn't great, but is quite a bit better than no camera at all. Its mounted in place of the center bumper bolt.

Nice write up! My 81 z28 needs a new stereo system and I was thinking about doing the same as I really like my Apple CarPlay and would like a backup camera as well.

I have the wire ran to the trunk for my car, the camera requires a hole to be drilled. I’m thinking about getting a different one to mount to the license plate bracket.

I think a license plate mounted camera would work fine too.

My wiring is plumbed into the trunk then through the hole in the trunk tunnel where the fuel sender wire runs. The license plate and bumper cover the wiring up externally.

Thanks! The music streaming and navigation with CarPlay is pretty slick. I think I appreciate the back-up camera even more because it helps me avoid the kids’ toys littering our driveway.
