how to remove auto brake pedal assembly. What's the easiest way.
I did not remove the whole assembly ... I removed the pivot bolt then removed the big auto pedal ... and replaced it with the two pedals from the manual setup + bushings and bolt ... The frame is the same.
If you are going to go down the route of removing the assembly you need to pull the booster and part of the dash ... way too much work.
You will need to remove the lower dash. Removing the cluster really helps. +1 on removing the pivot bolt and not the whole assembly.
When you say cluster. What exactly to you mean.
I believe when he mentioned the cluster he was referring to the instrument cluster ... if you remove that you can see the top of the pedal assembly.
Thank's I'll give it a try.
another vote for leaving the assembly in the car. just be prepared to squeeze into a tight spot to get at it. hope your a small framed guy like myself. wouldn't hurt to buy new plastic bushings that go on the pedal pivot bolt.. your old ones are probably toast. then you only need to get in there once and the bushings are cheap. nice ride by the way.
I'm 6'1 200 pounds and 63 years old. No fun job. Took out the steering column. Pulled off the brake booster and took out the assembly under dash. Found a complete 4 speed assembly on E-Bay. As soon as it gets here back in business.
