Call napa and get a good coil and Ignition Module and you should be good. That cheap stuff does not last and will leave you on the side of the road. I also keep me an extra Module in my mini tool box in my trunk.
Everything is new top to bottom. Frame off restoration. Its a 1961 impala bubbletop with a 79 rebuilt 355 mild cam truck engine out of a 79 camaro.Grasping at straws here but is there any chance you’ve got a worn timing chain? (That won’t help you with you oily coil issue though)
ALSO . . . DO ensure that the necessary dielectric grease is between the module and its mounting plate area. Without it, the module will run hot and self-destruct after a while. It makes the mounting plate a better heat sink for the module's heat.Call napa and get a good coil and Ignition Module and you should be good. So DUI distributors are cheap crap? Man i did my research and seen nothing but good reviews on that brand. Hope i didnt get suckered into some more BS distributors. It was a little over $300, that aint cheap for me,lol.Call napa and get a good coil and Ignition Module and you should be good. Could be something up with current availability. If this is the 5th distributor with a similar issue, there might be something other common issue.Be advised, voltage across is one thing but CURRENT THROUGH (amperage) IS ALTOGETHER ANOTHER KETTLE OF FISH.
A good HEI is expected to draw at least 4.5 amps.
Suggest verify system can and does provide adequate current throughout operating range.
