Just bought a Eddy AVS 2 650 carb to try on my street carb for a good deal. I always wanted to try one but not for what Edelbrock wants for them.

Can anyone confirm that this style of drop base will fit a Holley 4160 / 600cfm w/ electric choke ? Often referred to as the L88 or LT-1base L88 base.jpg

I’m 95% sure I had that L88 fitted on a Holley 600 VS w/EC.

Here’s a pick of it on an original 3310 VS with complete manual choke, lots of room in that area, I’m sure you will have room, maybe a dimple would be needed at the most.

Fuel inlet, float bowl adj. nut and possibly the elec choke hsg on a typical 4160/600 create some potential clearance issues that are not a concern with a 4150/750 manual choke due to their difference in design.

You are correct Chevyforever....maybe a little more than a dipple.

Give me a PM and I'll make arrangements to get mine to you so so as to test it out before you pull the trigger on a new one.

That way you will be sure it "could" be made to fit.

I have one on my 4150 with elec choke. Mine came with a breather tube under the base to vent the pcv. I carefully removed that and welded a cap on the hole. If I remember correctly, I also had to make a minor mod to the mounting flange as it comes with a small locating notch on it which fits whatever original carb the base was made for.

Last thing I had to do was add a 1/4 aluminum spacer between the carb and the base flange to clear the float adjusting screws. It was so close in almost didn't have to do that, but I really wanted a bit of extra clearance for the float bowl vents anyways.

The base gives you so much extra drop, the 1/4 is no big deal.

Here is a link to the spacer.

Had to notch the spacer a bit to clear a couple bulges on my carb that you may or may not have.

The base also gave me room for a 1/2" spacer under the carb made by G72 Zed.

It was worth doing the work, as the base is a great quality piece with the most drop I've seen yet.

biker, with the above mentioned parts, what hood is on your Camaro and did you have to notch or dimple the underside of it ?
thanks

Still using the stock 1981 Z28 hood. I had taken the cowl induction sealing ring off the underside when I was using a different drop base, but with the current base, I have plenty of room and could probably put it back on.
