Best plase to put tranny temp. sender bung?

I just ordered a Transmission Temperature Gauge to go along with the TH350 I'm having rebuilt. Where in the pan is the best place to put the Temperature Sender Bung?

Bite the bullet and get one of the deep sump pans like a B & M or TCI as they come with a drain plug and temp bung already and hey the xtra capacity never hurts either.

Those aluminum pans with thick flanges imho help stiffen the tranny case somewhat too compared to the thin steel flanges.

I don't have the extra cash or would buy a pan with the bung already in it. What I do have is a welder and the time to do it myself. So where is the best place to put it? Anyone know?

I have the temperature sending unit installed in the drain plug which is installed in the side of the factory transmission fluid pan.

Mine's down low, almost to the curve, on the drivers side ...
