Drove car too work on interstate 50 miles it runs about 3k on highway. I have oil all over valve covers and fire wall I just have 2 breathers. One on left and right. Any suggestions on too fix this? Pvc valve necessary? If I run breathers with hoses too a canister will that clear the mess up..

Ive tried running two breathers and two breathers to a catch canister on my warmed over 350 and neither relieved enough crank case pressure. PCV on one side and a breather on the other cured it right up.

Does it matter which valve cover. I usually run it on drivers side

Doesn't matter which side, but do you have baffled valve covers?

If your having that much blow by, something might be wrong in the motor, but lets assume its ok. I had " dribble " out of my 540 bb so I switch to bolt a bolt on breather and a bolt on pcv valve and run catch cans. Highly suggest this, you'll never spray oil again.

I used jegs bolt on breather with their catch cans and for a pcv I think I used billet specialties and used a quick fuel breather retainer for that. Ill dig up some pics if your interested.

Sbc and bbc have always seen oil sweating from breathers that I know of since the 70's . Simple fix is a sweat band around ea breather and then remove and clean when they become soaked

I run a breather on one VC and a PCV on the other that draws through an air-oil separator

No more venting in the engine compartment and my exhaust smells better!

Necessary? I wouldn't say necessary but as you've discovered you need some kind of crankcase vapor control system. Assuming that the engine is in good shape a PVC system is a simple system with no performance penalty and a great way to go for most street cars. I'd start with that. The valve goes in one cover and vent the other.

Does that can vent or breathe? I tried a similar setup with an unvented catch can and it wasn't relieving enough crankcase pressure and was blowing oil out around the base of the dipstick tube.

EDIT: I see now where you have a breather on the other side? Do you have a pic?
