Didn't think this one would effect me as much as it did, certainly more that when the Chevelle left, Paul Jr and his dad Paul Sr bought the car and are headed back to NM as we speak, they're driving straight through (16 hrs) so as to not have to leave the car unattended and should hopefully arrive back home around midnight-1am...here we are last night at the local brew pub where I took them to dinner..good guys and they like beer : And this morning loading up, the neighbors were none too pleased to hear this at 6am,lol...this is the last I will ever see this car after 33 years..sad yes, but it was time, I need the room: Best feature of the car,lol : Happy new owner: And goodbye little Camaro, you were a great car:
sorry for your loss.. like selling a family member. it IS a helluva nice car John... but I'm gonna go over the edge if you sell the '69...
Prepping that one next, I think it's headed to upstate NY, will keep you posted....and yeah, real mixed emotions staring at a whole pile of cash and no Hugger Orange Camaro. I figured you'd like that Gordo...wings and suds!
That's got to be tough to let it go, but you've certainly got the right attitude about it. The Camaro and Chevelle chapters have closed, and the Buick, the Dragster, and Model A Roadster chapters have now opened. To me, the most exciting time of any car chapter that I've ever been through is the beginning, when you're researching stuff like a mad man, filling your memory banks with tons of information, and you're genuinely excited. As time goes on, 33 years in your case, you become more of a caretaker of the automobile and the excitement is not the same. It's not a bad thing, some guys are OK with that role, but for us guys with "Automotive ADD", where there are more projects than time and money will allow, you miss that excitement. I'm in the same boat as you, John. I'm starting to have thoughts of reshuffling the deck and selling off all of my current car stuff and starting over with different cars. Right now, I want a first Gen Camaro again, and also a '32-'34 Ford Coupe or Sedan. I'll miss your '70, too. That was one of the best ones I have ever seen. If my ADD ever leads me to find another 2nd Gen Camaro z28 to buy, I'll be looking for a Hugger Orange one. Or a Fathom Green one. Damn you, ADD.....
I'm sure it'll be well taken care of. It's kind of like losing a girlfriend; you usually get a better one. Sad to see it go.
