There is nothing to stop the smart TV from scanning the neighborhood and finding an unsecured network to connect to. Microsoft Windows does this, and don't think the TV manufacturers aren't doing it too.

Guess you never worked for the government. First rule of working for the government is to make sure the public thinks you're doing your job and they need you.

Think about this too while on the subject. "Windows Internet Sharing". Every Windows computer since Windows 98 SE has the capability. And, it allows each computer to act as a DNS resolver and DHCP server to provide internet connections to other internet devices.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Connection_Sharing
Are you sure it is turned off 100% of the time in all your Windows devices?

Working 45 years in the tech computer industry makes me think more like a hacker than those of you who don't have that background. You ask, "Why would they do that?" I ask, "Why wouldn't they?"

Or, thinking like a hacker, think "Mobile Wireless Hotspot". Using a cell phone, you can provide mobile connections to devices that want to be connected to the internet. This opens possibilities for anyone near your house using their cellphone and a bit of knowhow to get inside your smart TV in your house and watch and listen to you.

As long as they are not using up my allotted data, who cares.
If you want to watch me scratch my nuts in my boxers, you are welcome to it.

He said, "Luddites"! Pure badassery right there.

For Hallowe'en I started to dress as a scary clown. I decided to be REALLY scary and put on a suit and tie. When the kids came up, I would tell them "I'm from the Government and I'm here to help you". I had to stop as I was TOO scary.

Painted some brakes with G2 caliper kit. Time to see how they cure out overnight.

it turned out actually quite nice. way smoother than I thought it would, (the rears are bumpy due to texture) but smoother than it was. cat was on my lap most the time during. took 2 hours, rotating between each caliper just putting new coats with 15 minutes between.
