https://www.corvetteblogger.com/2018/12/28/bloomington-gold-to-welcome-camaros-for-2019-event/ Unfortunately, it is the same weekend as Frederick and Carlisle! Discussion here too: http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=17166.0 Seems the 'Vette guys need some new blood. They are now welcoming the Camaro folks they used to shun.
That was my thought as well. I have owned both and the Corvette crowd is very different than the Camaro crowd. It's never good to generalize, but it's clear the Corvette culture looks at Camaro owners as people that cant' afford a Corvette. I read this message as they are down on participation and want to try to bring in the little brother to help out. I am not offended, just the way I see it. I will be going to the Nationals if I can even get out of work this year.
Funny about the view of Corvettes to Camaros by Corvette owners. My neighbor is heavily involved in Corvettes and has a 71 LT-1 vert and 68 race car. I used to have a base model 72 coupe. Nothing special at all but sold it as I needed the cash and just got tired of it. My neighbors wife the other day said it was such a shame that I sold the 'vette as it would be worth so much more than my "old Camaro". My neighbor just rolled his eyes as he knew better.
...[the Camaro] is a nice stepping stone before entering the Corvette hobby. No, they're not arrogant at all. I'd love to get me a C3 some day but not sure I can handle the pressure.
Those were some entertaining comments on Camaros.org. It sounds like the Bloomington Gold fellas didn't ask if the Camaro crowd even wanted to attend . Regardless, it would be cool to make some laps at the Brickyard....
I worked for a Corvette specialist for three years when I was a kid. Funny, they could tell you how many 69's came with tan interior and A/C, (Corvette Bible in console) but didn't have a clue how many connecting rods were in the motor. I see a Corvette come on my lot now, I hide. Stepping stone? I've heard Camaro's referred to as "poor man's Corvette". Right, Laine. Not arrogant at all. My friend has the most stunning split window I've ever seen. Pearl yellow, BBC, tubbed, 871 sticking out of the hood. Purists see it and stroke out.
I thought Corvettes were for old guys having a late life crisis , as that was all you generally see driving them HAA HA
Yep. I did have a C3 in my early 20's, then another after a divorce lol. I wanted to get it out of my system before Medicare and Depends.
