Did more digging into my engine woes. re-ran the leak down test and did a compression check. I backed off the rockers to ensure the valves were fully closed and did not hear any leaking from the carb or exhaust what did leak was the rings i could feel the air coming up from the drain holes in the heads.
I am a bit confused as to the compression readings especially #8 cylinder had 180 psi reading but by looking at the plug you would never have guessed it would be that high. maybe the rings rotated or the cylinder is just that oil soaked? don't know.

For now i will run the car as is.

Compression readings i did not do #5 and #7 is a pita to get at those.

What was the leakdown numbers in #8 and 2 compared to the others.

Deck height and chamber cc stack up tolerances can swing the cranking compression tests, bad second ring with excessive oil migration and carbon buildup in a chamber also raises the cranking compression, but suffers worse leakdown numbers.

did not use a proper leak down tester so i don't know main thing i was looking for was what was leaking and it is the rings. I know for a fact there is excessive oil in the cylinder as well as some buildup so i am sure that accounts for #8 being high. outside of this the engine runs good just uses a lot of oil. guess i can live with it for the summer just will have to clean plugs often.

I hear ya. You could use a hotter plug and tighten the gap a bit in those cylinders to see if that would help.

Just thinking if you have you ever consider going to a dual carb'd setup ? I've heard that a single carb blower application sometimes has fuel distribution issues with port to port variations.
