I just installed the Borgeson quick turn steering box and OMG what a difference. With the Hotchkiss sway bar, new rag joint and Flaming River Steering column, my 72 Camaro just became a blast to take on the back roads. Based on my last two c2 and c3 corvette builds with rack and pinions from a C4 corvette, this falls right up there with them. I highly recommend it

You should do the u-joint steering shaft conversion too.

Yeah the combination of their box and steering shaft conversion is phenomenal.

Ya, I think the rag joint would be just as good as a u-joint as far as linear feel goes. At least in the short term before heat and wear gets to it. Rag joint is cheap, pop a new one in e ery 5 or six years. I like the u-joint too, but took extra time to clearance the frame so the vibtation isolating joint would fit.

so, question....whats the performance between what the o.p installed and a properly running set up from a 1979 Z28? And by properly running set up, i mean, NO SLOP in steering components at all....I ask as I see this come up quite a bit and, I myself, thought the oem steering box/steering components in good as new condition from a 79 steers awesome...you mean It can get better?....thank you

After a few days of driving with the new box in my 81, it is definitely better than the stock box. Much quicker initial turn-in, very nice "feel" to the steering. Not quite apples to apples now though. I have much more caster with the adjustable upper control arms and a type II steering pump.
