There's a little more to it than that. The Camaro I traded it for I had previously owned (was my Mom's car that she bought new) and I had traded that to Tim (the guy I got my 79 back from) in 1993 for a 79 Blazer that he bought as a project and never finished. Fwiw I still own the Blazer, it's got 14" of lift, 44" Super Swampers, one ton axles and a 468 under the hood.

Anyway, when Tim got the 81 he made a Z/28 clone out of it, painted it and put a fresh 350/TH350 in it and drove it for a bunch of years. In the meantime, I was ripping the 79 around while I finished up the backhalf on the 81 in my avatar. When my 81 was done, we talked and I decided the clone Z he had put together was a little nicer than the 79, so we agreed to swap cars. I already had a car to race and I think he wanted something a little quicker, so a deal was made. I drove the 81 (complete with functional A/C) for a summer and right when I was ready to put it in storage, I get a call from the guy that had previously owned the 79 wanting to know if I would sell him the clone 81 Z. His offer was too good to refuse so I sold it.

After that I missed having a second gen for a DD, looked at some, owned another one but always missed that 79..... now it's back.

And the best thing is you don't have to deal with the DMV. Great story, congrats.

Congrats on getting your car back and that's a good looking blazer as well! Always had a soft spot for square body chevy's. I've grown up around them and working on them with my dad but trying to build my own and work on the car as well gets expensive :)!. One tons are overpriced so I just bought a cucv truck for parts.

Paint that K5 Sunburst Orange Metallic and that looks just like my Blazer.

Good deal on getting the car back. Paint it back the original black.

Went with black on mine and I'm glad I did.

When I built that truck, I had to beg, borrow and steal to get the Dana 60 for the front..... now (around here, at least) you can't give a 60 away since most guys are going with Rockwells.

I would love a military pickup or Blazer with the diesel engine.
