    Fast street cars are nothing new in Western NY. I have no desire to turn this in to a "who did it first" or "that's not a real street car" thread but I can tell you that we ran 8's in the 1/4 mile (no idea what that is in the 1/8th) back in the 90's, with a car that was far more streetable than most at the time.

    Here's a pic of our 82 Firebird we took to Memphis for the Hot Rod Fast Street Car Shootout in the mid 90's..... homebuilt car, 3200 lbs with driver and it went 8.50's with a cast intake/single 4 barrel on one stage of spray. All steel (except the hood) and real glass windows. We quailfied 14th in a 28 car field and lost to eventual winner Rod Saboury.
