I agree. Someone built a movie car with my taste exactly. I could handle having a Daytona Ferrari and a Cobra in my garage, as well. A C3 Corvette, too ... if I had a bigger garage.

Really nice project, paint looks great. My .02s; loose the fog lights and install the bumperettes, otherwise perfect. The vette hood scoop is really a nice touch too.

Accessory fog lights on cars, CB radios & Trunk Antennas should be relegated to the 1970s'...

I dearly love the vintage (patent pending 1976) Eddy Torker that came with the pile that I drug home, and really, really wanted to use it.

But my buddies were like, "That thing's not going to work. 50 year old technology, and that EGR cross over sucks." I knew I wanted the best aluminum heads for the car, so reluctantly I agree. In the end I did not get the best intake for my choice of parts, but that's later in the story.

Good afternoon, comment on the intake, if you'd like to improve the finish, I used acid wheel cleaner and the dollar-store stainless steel wire brushes to buff the finish, I then used a Dremel and stainless steel cupped wire brush for the tighter areas, the Victor Jr. I have cleaned up nicely with that technique. It's a little brighter than the original finish, but the brushes didn't add swirl marks or do away with the sand cast surface. Here are a couple of photos if you're interested 3045 is the most recent photo, the others are more than two years old, the car has been back together and driven a bit since October 2020.

great progress on your camaro. sorry about your wife. my wife of 25 years passed in 2015 unexpectedly. Lisa was the reason I built my 70 rs camaro. she gave up her garage for 7 years. in 2017 i drove it across America in her honor. I saw Gumball rally at 14 I. Hayward CA. my dream was to get a yellow camaro and do cannonball run.
in 2017 I went to the film spotsin New York on the trip with my Camaro.

More weirdness in that with all the parts that came with the car were three interior door panels. The car is an original "Custom Interior" car. The rest of the world calls this "deluxe interior." Two of the door panels are 1972-73 deluxe panels. Why? They were all crap and unusable. The dark green one I'm sure was original to the car, as it is 1970-71.

Someone, and you know who you are, surprise gifted me with brand new door panels. They are insanely expensive. First, you have to find a trashed pair, and I've seen them as much as $500/pair trashed, and send them to Just Dashes. 6 to 12 months later they send you insanely gorgeous really remade door panels. Restored somehow doesn't seem to describe it accurately. Big, big money. I don't know how much it really cost because he won't tell me. I think I mentioned earlier that I could not have done this car without the help I'm getting.

You guys are making me tear up. In a way I have dedicated it to her. A little over 4 years ago she asked me if I thought I'd have it done by the time I turned 55. I didn't make it. That hurts when I think about it. I just took a pic of this picture I keep on my desk. In so many ways she was just so incredible.

@70speedracer I'm so sorry for your loss. It's incredibly terrible. A nightmare you never wake up from.


I never thought about recreating the entire, or beginning and end points of the Gumball race route in the car when it's done. I believe a lot of the film was shot in Arizona. The mountains scene where Gary Busey pees on his hand I'm certain was shot east of Payson on State Route 260. I am definitely going to drive that. Also parts of Route 66.
