California DMV registration 71 issues.

Bought my new '71 from an out of state dealer. Went to AAA dmv with title, insurance in hand to get it registered. They tell me since it was bought from a dealer, I must go to the main dmv office. At the DMV office they say we must inspect the car and vin number, I have the under hood picture of the vin that matches the title if needed, they ask me to pull it around. It's not here I say, I can't drive it without plates yet, give me a temporary or whatever to drive it here...no way you have to have it towed here!! Frustration!

Mobile vin verification is how you solve this issue. $80 was what it cost to have them come out, spend 5 mins, and provide me an signed document for dmv. Easy peasy and had to do that on my 70 z28

Yea, i just paid $65 to a person that new nothing other than how to get paid to verify VIN's for CA.

Don’t even get me started on calif prices! $2.39 reg unleaded in texas yesterday. A quart of heavy cream is now $7 in calif while I paid $2.69 In texas this week. Literally my grocery bills here at the kis are easily 40% cheaper than back home in calif.

In Florida any certified popo can certify mileage. FOR FREE! AND, they come to your house if asked.

Here, you drive the car to them with whatever plates it currently has no matter what State issued them. Then, they inspect it and run the VIN to see if it is reported stolen. California could learn to do it the easy way too.
